Bento Boxes, Again March 22, 2007

The new school year begins on April 1 in Japan, so this is the time to think about school-related things. Seems the bento box competition is more fierce than I realized. I just read a book review for a book titled “Bento Box in the Heartland: My Japanese Girlhood in Whitebread America”. It is a memoir from a syndicated food columnist who grew up in the only Asian family in of all places Versailles, IN (near where Dad grew up) in the 1960s. Talk about culture shock.
